The Adventure Of Wisteria Lodge by Arthur Conan Doyle
Well the Granada series surely toned this one down to a palatable taste. Aside from some parts I liked this one The Adventure of the Devil's Foot
by Arthur Conan Doyle I loved the setting of this and the bit of twist I had not really expected. I always love it when Holmes goes off on another subject as well as the obvious The Adventure Of The Six Napoleons by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
I liked it well enough though, I think there was enough fodder here for another full length novel. The Church at Parkers Wharf
by Louise Gorday For those loving the times of the roaring 20's its all here for you. Crooked cops, car chases, shootouts in speakeasy's. This was fun. The Hound Of The Baskervilles by
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Actually now having "read" it, after having seen so many film versions. I had little trouble "seeing" it all happen A Shimmer of Hummingbirds: A Birder Murder Mystery by Steve Burrows
On pg 17 of 376 I won this one, so I have only this one in the series so far. Starting off with low key action is always a good way to get my attention. Building up with suspense, I like that The Dutchess Of Wiltshire's Diamonds by Buy Boothby
Thief posses as detective to solve crime........gave me some ideas. The Three Anecdotes by Charles Dickens
Maybe I just got lost somewhere but I just didn't get this one The Mystery Of Marie Roget by Edgar Allen Poe
Personally I enjoy Dupin. I see without any doubt that Conan Doyle was influenced by Poe. Though I have to say that even if Poe had carried on with Dupin for a full series, unless he took the time to develop the friendship between Dupin his companion, Sherlock still would have been ore palatable to the public in general. Poe has a very "artistic pen" that most people would have and still would need a dictionary to understand. |
